Detailed Tour Description
Your driver will greet you at the agreed meeting point at the port, and your adventure in Walvis Bay begins.
In an intimate group of no more than five guests per aircraft, you’ll transfer to Swakopmund. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenic 45-minute drive along the captivating coastline where the Atlantic Ocean meets the towering sand dunes of the Namib Desert.
At Swakopmund Airport, your experienced pilot awaits to take you on an unforgettable scenic flight of approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. As you soar above Namibia’s dramatic landscapes, your pilot will share fascinating insights via headset—each guest has a window seat and unobstructed views thanks to the high-wing design of the aircraft.
Your flight route begins over the impressive Kuiseb Canyon, with its winding formations cutting through the arid terrain. Soon, endless dune fields unfold beneath you, stretching toward Tsondabvlei—an ancient, dry riverbed surrounded by striking red dunes. This region is considered one of the oldest and driest landscapes on Earth, offering remarkable glimpses into Namibia’s geology and desert ecology.
A highlight of your journey is the flyover of the legendary Sossusvlei, a spectacular dune basin with vivid red sand formations and the surreal clay pan of Deadvlei, dominated by the towering Big Daddy dune—one of the highest sand dunes in the world and a true natural icon of Namibia.
Next, you’ll pass over the restricted Diamond Area, where the desert has reclaimed long-abandoned diamond camps and ghost towns—silent witnesses to the once-glittering diamond rush. As the contrast between sand and sea intensifies, you’ll reach the wild Atlantic coast. Here, you’ll glide over the untouched Skeleton Coast and spot famous shipwrecks like the Eduard Bohlen and the Shawnee from above.
Your return flight traces the majestic Langewand cliffs and the bird-rich natural haven of Sandwich Harbour, with surrounding dunes, seal colonies, flocks of flamingos and pelicans—and with a bit of luck, dolphins and whales. To conclude, you’ll float over the pink salt pans south of Walvis Bay before your pilot sets course back to Swakopmund Airport.
After landing, we’ll take you to our town office, located in the heart of Swakopmund’s city center.
Swakopmund – Explore at Your Leisure
Once there, you’re free to discover Namibia’s most German-influenced town on your own. Often affectionately called the “southernmost North Sea resort,” Swakopmund invites you to stroll along its promenade and admire the colorful half-timbered houses. This charming coastal town is waiting to be explored. Enjoy your time in Namibia’s coastal gem!
Filled with unforgettable impressions, you’ll return comfortably to Walvis Bay and your cruise ship.
