In Sesfontein accompanied by a Guide and translater, you will be driven to an Ovahimba village in the area. Spend the morning with the Ovahimbas in their ‘kraal’. The Ovahimba are a tribe of semi-nomadic pastoralists who still live and dress according to ancient traditions. They are tall, slender and statuesgue people, characterised by their proud yet friendly bearing. The women are noted for their unusual sculptural beauty, enhanced by intricate hairstyles and traditional adornments. The Ovahimba rub their bodies with red ochre and fat to protect their skin against the scorching sun. Lunch will be served at the Fort Sesfontein. Relax at the poolside. Afternoon further flight along the Uniab Riverbed in search for the desert elephants, rhino’s, giraffes, mountain zebras and other game up to the rivermouth area, turning southbound. Flight along the treacherous Skeleton Coast. The Skeleton Coast Park is about 40km wide and covers 16 390km2. The park in the northern Namib Desert stretches from the Ugab River in the south to the Kunene River, which forms the northern border with Angola. This region is generally cold and windy with mist in the mornings and evenings. The Skeleton Coast is littered with whalebones, shipwrecks and remains of sailors and explorers. Further flight past Torra Bay, Palgrave point, Toscanini to Cape Cross seal reserve. During the November/December breeding season as many as 200 000 seals gather at Cape Cross. It was also here that the Portuguese navigator, Diego Cao, erected a stone cross in 1486. No part of the desert is visually more stunning than Sossusvlei. Stop over at Lüderitz with a guided tour of the ghost town, Kolmanskop. Kolmanskop was once the focal point of a glittering diamond rush. Former stately homes, their grandeur now scoured and demolished by the wind, bear witness to one of the most vivid periods in Namibian history. We return to Lüderitz for a city tour. The sheer isolation of the town and distinctly German colonial architecture give it a historic charm. Transfer to the airfield and we continue our flight along the "Forbidden Coast" past the shipwreck OTAVI (1945) at Spencer Bay, Meob Bay and on to Conception Bay, where the shipwreck EDUARD BOHLEN (1909) lies approximately 250 m inland and the SHAWNEE (1976). Experience the timelessness and beauty of the Namib on one side, silence and solitude contrasting with the turbulence of the Atlantic Surf on the other. Further flight past Sandwich Harbour, a wetland of international importance and protected by the Ramsar Convention. The highest recorded density of Lesser and Greater flamingo’s was recorded at low tide with 7 791 birds/km. In harmony with the surroundings we find Namibia's coastal salt mines, south of Walvis Bay, attracting thousands of birds. Walvis Bay, Namibia's major harbour town and a former enclave to South Africa, which was incorporated into Namibia on March 1, 1994 is our next destination. Midway between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund we pass the Langstrand Holiday Resort and the Dolphin Park Recreation Resort on our way to Swakopmund.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section][vc_section content_placement="top"][vc_row][vc_column el_class="content-panel"][vc_column_text] ### Activities Price includes: Flight, Transfers, Tour Kolmanskop, Tour Lüderitz, Lunch, Refreshments onboard Price excludes: Beverages / Drinks[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class="content-panel" el_id="activities"]NO ACTIVITIES!!!![/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="2/3"][vc_column_text css="" el_class="content-panel" el_id="route"] ### Route Duration of Excursion: **full day** Flight distance: **1100 km** ### Pricing - One-day-safaris are based on 4 persons sharing the Cessna 210 aircraft. - Price per Aircraft  @ N$ 74 000  [/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/3"][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image="3870" img_size="full" css_animation="fadeInRight" el_class="xtd-responsive-margin-negative--left-20"][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section] --- # Fish River Canyon Excursion Source: https://www.sossusfly.com/fish-river-canyon.md [vc_section][vc_row equal_height="yes" content_placement="top"][vc_column width="1/3" el_class="z-index--2"][vc_empty_space height="4rem"][vc_empty_space height="2rem"][vc_gallery interval="0" images="626" img_size="1024x1024" css_animation="fadeInLeft" el_class="xtd-responsive-margin-negative--right-80"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3" css=".vc_custom_1558622051113{border-top-width: 10px !important;border-right-width: 10px !important;border-bottom-width: 10px !important;border-left-width: 10px !important;border-left-color: #f4f3f1 !important;border-left-style: none !important;border-right-color: #f4f3f1 !important;border-right-style: none !important;border-top-color: #f4f3f1 !important;border-top-style: none !important;border-bottom-color: #f4f3f1 !important;border-bottom-style: none !important;}" el_class="content-panel"][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2" offset="vc_col-sm-offset-5"][vc_column_text] ## Fish River Canyon Excursion Early morning flight over the Kuiseb river to Sossusvlei with the highest sand dunes in the world. Midway between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund we pass the Langstrand Holiday Resort and the Dolphin Park Recreation Resort on our way “back” to Swakopmund.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section][vc_section][vc_row][vc_column el_class="content-panel"][vc_column_text] ### Activities Price includes: Flights, Transfers, Fish River Canyon Excursion, Lunch at Lodge, Refreshments onboard Price excludes: Beverages / Drinks at Lodge[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class="content-panel" el_id="activities"][/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="2/3"][vc_column_text css="" el_class="content-panel" el_id="route"] ### Route Flight Duration: **+-05h30** Flight distance: **1570 km** ### Pricing - One-day-safaris are based on 4 persons sharing the Cessna 210 aircraft. - Price per Aircraft  @ N$ 85 500  [/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/3"][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image="3868" img_size="full" css_animation="fadeInRight" el_class="xtd-responsive-margin-negative--left-20"][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section] --- # Sossusfly Excursion Source: https://www.sossusfly.com/sossusfly-excursion.md [vc_section][vc_row equal_height="yes" content_placement="middle"][vc_column width="1/3" el_class="z-index--2"][vc_empty_space height="4rem"][vc_empty_space height="2rem"][vc_gallery interval="0" images="506" img_size="1024x1024" el_class="xtd-responsive-margin-negative--right-80"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3" css=".vc_custom_1558622051113{border-top-width: 10px !important;border-right-width: 10px !important;border-bottom-width: 10px !important;border-left-width: 10px !important;border-left-color: #f4f3f1 !important;border-left-style: none !important;border-right-color: #f4f3f1 !important;border-right-style: none !important;border-top-color: #f4f3f1 !important;border-top-style: none !important;border-bottom-color: #f4f3f1 !important;border-bottom-style: none !important;}" el_class="content-panel"][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2" offset="vc_col-sm-offset-5"][vc_column_text] ## Sossusfly Excursion This is our most popular day-trip. The flight covers about 630 km of which less than 20% could be seen if traveling by road. This scenic delight discovers the ancient desert deep in the heart of Namibia and the southern Skeleton Coast from the air. Tourists often regard this flight as the highlight of their holiday. This early morning flight from Swakopmund takes you over the mesmerising Namib Desert, the Kuiseb riverbed and Kuiseb canyon with spectaculat contrasting colours and past the Desert Ecological Research Unit of Gobabeb. Onwards to Tsondabvlei, the only known breeding area of the Lappet faced Vulture in southern Namibia, towards the Sesriem Canyon. Landing at Sesriem you will be driven in a 4x4 vehicle to the highest shifting sand dunes in the world at Sossusvlei. No part of the desert is visually more stunning than Sossusvlei. The warm tints of the sand range from pale apricot to brick orange and deep red, vividly contrasting with the large white clay pans at some of their bases. Admire, climb and photograph the scenery and enjoy refreshment in the shade of a camelthorn tree. When you are ready, return to Sossusvlei Lodge at Sesriem for lunch. After lunch transfer to Sesriem landing strip. We continue our flight via Sossusvlei the highest shifting sand dunes in the world. From Sossusvlei into the Diamond Restricted Area flying over the remains of three old diamond camps and crossing the coastline.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section][vc_row equal_height="yes" content_placement="middle"][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text css="" el_id="route" el_class="content-panel"] ### Activities - 4x4 Drive to worlds highest dunes - Lunch in the desert ### Experience description We depart with the rising sun to arrive at Sossusvlei Lodge at 8 am to beat the heat of the African sun. On the way, we admire sights of the Swartbank Mountain with its black striated lines. We also pass the Gobabeb Training & Research Centre, internationally recognised for research on the desert ecosystems in Namibia. Next up is the Kuiseb Canyon where two famous geologists went into hiding for two years during World War II. If Lady Luck is on your side, you might see some zebra and oryx along the ridge of the canyon. Before you know it, we will have reached our destination – Sossusvlei – from where a 4x4 will take you to discover (and perhaps climb?) some of the world’s highest dunes. A walk to Deadvlei with its petrified camel-thorn trees is also well worth it. We depart with glorious memories from Sossusvlei Lodge and fly over the exact sands where you have just left your footprints. Next up are abandoned diamond camps and numerous shipwrecks until we reach the awe-striking Sandwich Harbour. As we near Swakopmund, we fly over Walvis Bay and the cotton-candy pink salt lakes. The shifting sand dunes create a fascinating contrast in colours along the up to 500 feet deep Kuiseb Canyon. **Sossusvlei Area - **The wind-sculpted sand dunes of the Sossusvlei area are not only of the most beautiful natural phenomena in Namibia, but are reputedly of the highest sand dunes (up to 350 m) in the world. They tower into the sky and, with their changing shapes, colours and magnificent size, provide a constant fascination. In its heart lays a huge clay pan that rarely transforms into a small lake after the occasional thunderstorm. Close by we see a number of smaller clay pans, named like “Hidden Vlei” or “Dead Vlei”, featuring dead tree stumps dating back more than 2000 years. **Diamond Camps - **“Charlottenfelder”, “Holsatia” and “Conception” are the last remains of the diamond rush era in the Diamond area North. In an intimate group of no more than five guests per aircraft, you’ll transfer to Swakopmund. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenic 45-minute drive along the captivating coastline where the Atlantic Ocean meets the towering sand dunes of the Namib Desert. At Swakopmund Airport, your experienced pilot awaits to take you on an unforgettable scenic flight of approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. As you soar above Namibia’s dramatic landscapes, your pilot will share fascinating insights via headset—each guest has a window seat and unobstructed views thanks to the high-wing design of the aircraft. Your flight route begins over the impressive Kuiseb Canyon, with its winding formations cutting through the arid terrain. Soon, endless dune fields unfold beneath you, stretching toward Tsondabvlei—an ancient, dry riverbed surrounded by striking red dunes. This region is considered one of the oldest and driest landscapes on Earth, offering remarkable glimpses into Namibia’s geology and desert ecology. A highlight of your journey is the flyover of the legendary Sossusvlei, a spectacular dune basin with vivid red sand formations and the surreal clay pan of Deadvlei, dominated by the towering Big Daddy dune—one of the highest sand dunes in the world and a true natural icon of Namibia. Next, you’ll pass over the restricted Diamond Area, where the desert has reclaimed long-abandoned diamond camps and ghost towns—silent witnesses to the once-glittering diamond rush. As the contrast between sand and sea intensifies, you’ll reach the wild Atlantic coast. Here, you’ll glide over the untouched Skeleton Coast and spot famous shipwrecks like the Eduard Bohlen and the Shawnee from above. Your return flight traces the majestic Langewand cliffs and the bird-rich natural haven of Sandwich Harbour, with surrounding dunes, seal colonies, flocks of flamingos and pelicans—and with a bit of luck, dolphins and whales. To conclude, you’ll float over the pink salt pans south of Walvis Bay before your pilot sets course back to Swakopmund Airport. After landing, we’ll take you to our town office, located in the heart of Swakopmund’s city center. Swakopmund – Explore at Your Leisure Once there, you’re free to discover Namibia’s most German-influenced town on your own. Often affectionately called the “southernmost North Sea resort,” Swakopmund invites you to stroll along its promenade and admire the colorful half-timbered houses. This charming coastal town is waiting to be explored. Enjoy your time in Namibia’s coastal gem! Filled with unforgettable impressions, you’ll return comfortably to Walvis Bay and your cruise ship. ### Price and Conditions - Bus transfer to and from Walvis Bay with a maximum of 15 participants - Scenic flight in a Cessna 210 with a maximum of 5 passengers per aircraft - **Price per person: € 450 (based on 5 passengers sharing the flight)** - Price per aircraft: € 2.250,- [/vc_column_text][vc_btn title="Send us a request" color="danger" align="center" css="" link="url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sossusfly.com%2Frequests%2F|title:Request"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_single_image image="3682" img_size="1024x1024" css="" el_class="xtd-responsive-margin-negative--left-20"][vc_single_image image="3610" img_size="1024x1024" css="" el_class="xtd-responsive-margin-negative--left-20"][vc_single_image image="4576" img_size="1024x1024" css="" el_class="xtd-responsive-margin-negative--left-20"][vc_single_image image="3609" img_size="1024x1024" css="" el_class="xtd-responsive-margin-negative--left-20"][/vc_column][/vc_row] --- # Podcast Source: https://www.sossusfly.com/podcast.md [vc_section][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image="4288" img_size="full" onclick="custom_link" img_link_target="_blank" css_animation="fadeInRight" link="https://hitradio.com.na/podcasts/der-hitradio-namibia-insidertipp-sossusfly/"][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_btn title="Click here for the SOSSUSFLY Insider Tipp" color="danger" css_animation="flipInX" link="url:https%3A%2F%2Fhitradio.com.na%2Fpodcasts%2Fder-hitradio-namibia-insidertipp-sossusfly%2F|title:Click%20here%20for%20the%20SOSSUSFLY%20Insider%20Tipp|target:%20_blank|"][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section] --- # Request Source: https://www.sossusfly.com/requests.md [vc_row full_width="stretch_row" content_placement="top" curly_bg_repeat="bg-no-repeat" curly_bg_position="bg-pos-center-bottom" curly_padding="content-padding-xs" css=".vc_custom_1712600328090{background: #ffffff url(https://www.sossusfly.dev.cc/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Sossusfly.jpg?id=517) !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;}"][vc_column][vc_column_text] ## Request for flying with us [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text] ## Contact us now [/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text] #### +264 81 250 7171 [**reservations@sossusfly.com**](mailto:reservations@sossusfly.com)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_separator color="custom" accent_color="rgba(255,255,255,0.13)"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width="stretch_row" el_id="getting-here"][vc_column][vc_column_text] # Getting Here [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width="stretch_row" css=".vc_custom_1712755512031{margin-top: 0px !important;}"][vc_column][vc_column_text] [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] 1 Tobias Hainyeko Street, SWAKOPMUND, NAMIBIA [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row xtender_is_modal="true" el_id="my-modal" css=".vc_custom_1521756853253{padding-right: 4rem !important;padding-left: 4rem !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}" el_class="xtd-shadow--large-light"][vc_column][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row] --- # Media Source: https://www.sossusfly.com/gallery-scenic.md [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation="fadeIn"][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row] --- # Terms and Conditions Source: https://www.sossusfly.com/terms-conditions.md [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] #### TERMS AND CONDITIONS All prices on quotations and invoices: - are aircraft specific and is thus subject to aircraft serviceability and availability; - is subject to industry and related fuel price fluctuations. Red-gold dunes are in contrast with grey-black gravel plains and the white salt pans that the game loves so much. Deep gorges carve up the wide-open plains, and rugged mountain peaks tower high above them. Here the chaos of primeval forces, there the gentleness and eroticism of the windblown sand. This endless place, seemingly without life - during the day at the mercy of the scorching sun, and at night freezing under the cold wafts of mist, which float inland from the Atlantic, mystically illuminated by a frosty distant moon - it is almost a miracle to find life above and below this deserts hostile surface. Here, plants and animals survive due to the wind, humidity and fog. The hot winds form the highest sand dunes in the world, true sand mountains, ranging from the eroded riverbed of the Tsauchab along to the mystical place called The Sossusvlei. In the wonderful world of the Sossusvlei, dunes of up to over 300 m high are stretched across the landscape, with sharp contours and smooth sand surfaces looking like majestic, towering Alpine peaks amongst a shimmering pearl ribbon of clay pans.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_placement="middle" curly_padding="content-padding-none" css=".vc_custom_1717915026142{margin-bottom: 12rem !important;background-color: #f5f3f1 !important;}"][vc_column][vc_row_inner content_placement="middle" css=".vc_custom_1717914787738{background-color: #eab735 !important;}" el_class="label"][vc_column_inner el_class="label"][vc_column_text] ### Most Popular [/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2" offset="vc_col-lg-offset-1 vc_col-lg-5"][vc_single_image image="2060" img_size="1024x1024"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2" offset="vc_col-lg-offset-1 vc_col-lg-4"][vc_column_text] ## Sossusfly The most popular Scenic flight is the “**SOSSUS****fly**”, sometimes also called Sossus classic or Sossus Scenic. Welcome to the Fish River Canyon – the result of mesmerising geological formations over billions of years. Today it is famous for being the largest canyon in Africa, and the second largest in the world after the Grand Canyon in Arizona. If you are an avid hiker, this is the place to be. Hiking is a major drawcard in the cooler months from April to September. The canyon is part of the Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfontier Park that stretches into South Africa. Renowned for its swirls of burnt-orange sands that form some of the highest dunes in the world, Sossusvlei is also home to Deadvlei. Scorched camel-thorn trees against towering dunes and an immaculate blue sky, make for splendid photographic opportunities. Sossusvlei is a combination of the Nama word “Sossus” meaning dead-end, and the Afrikaans word “vlei” meaning marsh. This used to be the end destination of the Tsauchab River some millions of years ago until the life-giving source changed its course and left the marsh to dry up and turn into a salt and clay pan. Today, one of the world’s last untouched wilderness landscapes with its nomadic people is found in the Kaokoland in Namibia. No Namibian adventure is complete without a visit to a Himba village. This gives tourists the opportunity to become acquainted with the semi-nomadic tribe’s fascinating lifestyle. The Himba culture is one of the world’s last semi-nomadic cultures. Although their lifestyle is challenged by the lack of space in a modern world, the Ochre People – slender, graceful and mesmerising – still migrate after seasonal rains and green pastures following the pattern of their ancestors since time immemorial.
